Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus with an 18: 9 screen that are not ashamed to buy
After numerous leaks and official teasers, Xiaomi finally introduced a new generation of budget smartphones - Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus. Unlike the younger Redmi 5A, this is not the usual restyling of previous models. Apparatuses are equipped with elongated screens with an aspect ratio of 18: 9 and more thin frames at the top and bottom.

As expected, Xiaomi Redmi 5 received a 5.7-inch display with a resolution of 1440x720. The heart of the smartphone was the eight-core Snapdragon 450 processor with a clock speed of 1.8 GHz and Adreno 506 graphics, in fact it is a slightly simplified version of Snapdragon 625. There will be versions with 2/3 GB of operative and 16/32 GB of internal memory with the option of expansion (hybrid slot). For autonomy the battery responds to 3300 mAh.
Senior Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is equipped with 5.99-inch panel Full HD + (2160x1080 pixels). Hardware base was the eight-core Snapdragon 625 processor, which was used in the previous generation. RAM 3 or 4 gigabytes, the built-in storage - 32 or 64 gigabytes, respectively. A full charge of a 4000 mAh battery will last for two days. The novelties are operated by MIUI 9 on the basis of Android Nougat.
Both devices received a basic 12-megapixel camera with a pixel size of 1.25 μm, a f / 2.2 aperture and a PDAF phase auto-focus. The front camera is 5 megapixels, now there is a flash for selfie. On the rear panel of metal located fingerprint scanner, and on the upper end - an infrared port and a 3.5-mm audio jack. By the way, Wi-Fi 5 GHz supports only the Plus version. NFC is not (sorry, Android Pay).

Whatever sellers do on AliExpress , in China, the price of Xiaomi Redmi 5 starts at $ 120 for the base version, and the 3/32 GB version costs about $ 135. Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus costs $ 151 or $ 196 depending on the amount of memory. In the home market, device sales will begin on December 12, with four colors available: black, gold, blue and pink gold.
While smartphones have only one direct competitor - Huawei Honor 7X, which is even more expensive. Budget models are just beginning to pick up the trend to reduce the scope, and Xiaomi also offers an excellent price-performance ratio.
