When a fitness tracker is not needed: MediaTek introduced a biosensor for smartphones Sensio MT6381

The company MediaTek introduced the first biosensor for smartphones Sensio MT6381. The novelty receives and processes information about six indicators of the user's body and more than with a vengeance is replaced by the functionality of any wrestling fitness tracker.

Fitness smartphone

The functionality of the new MediaTek Sensio MT6381 chip includes measurement and diagnosis of heart rate, blood pressure measurements, oxygen saturation measurements, recording of photoplethysmogram and EEG (brain activity measurements). The very same novelty has dimensions of 6.8 × 4.93 × 1.2 mm and it is easy enough to fit into a modern smartphone. To obtain all six indicators in the smartphone, you need to add some sensors and LEDs, and the total time of all measurements, according to the creators, does not exceed 60 seconds.

What to expect

It is unlikely that smartphone manufacturers will install a new chip in their models, and even a bunch of sensors. Now this is all replaced by stylish fitness trackers, and the place inside the gadgets is worth its weight in gold and it is allocated for the increased battery or additional modules. On the other hand, not everyone buys, wears and approves fitness trackers, but does not mind having a truly versatile multimedia device with all that is needed, plus useful sensors for monitoring health.
