Thanks AI: Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro's Face Unlock feature will be able to be used in third-party services and apps
The flagship Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones have a new Face Unlock feature.
Here's What We Know
The information was shared by insider and dataminer @MishaalRahman. Thanks to AI, the Face Unlock feature, which works through the front camera of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, has got the right level of security. That is, facial recognition can be used to log into third-party services and apps.
Face Unlock on the Pixel 8 series is now classified as a Class 3 (formerly Strong) biometric, which allows it to be used for BiometricPrompt (ie. authenticate within apps) and the Android Keystore.

Flashback
Android has three levels of biometric authentication models: class 1 (Convenient), class 2 (Weak), and class 3 (Secure). All three can be used to unlock your device, but only Class 2 and Class 3 are suitable for in-app authentication. Plus, Class 2 can't integrate with key storage. In other words, Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are the only Android smartphones on the market with Class 3 biometric authentication.
This has gotten a lot of attention, so let's clear some things up:
