MWC 2018: ASUS released ZenFone 5 and 5Z - its versions of the frameless iPhone X
At the currently held MWC 2018 in Barcelona, ASUS presented two new full-screen smartphones of the top-end segment ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 5Z.
ASUS ZenFone 5
ASUS ZenFone 5 received a metal frame and a glass case, a Full HD + screen (2264 by 1080 pixels) with a 6.2-inch cutout that takes up 90% of the front panel. Inside the cutout are sensors, front camera and speaker. The heart of the novelty was the Snapdragon 636 processor. In operation it is assisted by 4 or 6 gigabytes of RAM and 64 gigabytes of built-in memory. The main dual vertical received a 12 megapixel Sony IMX363 sensor with aperture camera f / 1.8. The additional module has a resolution of 8 megapixels and a wide-angle lens with a shooting angle of 120 degrees. The cameras were equipped with an artificial intelligence function.
In the presence of a fingerprint scanner, a slot for two SIM-cards, NFC-module, animated emoji ZeniMoji, which repeat the user's movements in the frame and the system of face recognition. During the operation of ZenFone 5, a 3300 mAh battery with BoostMaster quick charge technology is responsible. There is also the AI Charging function. It optimizes charging and increases battery life. ASUS ZenFone 5 goes on sale in April in silver and dark blue colors. The price of new items is still unknown.
ASUS ZenFone 5Z
The new flagship is also equipped with a glass case, as well as a Full HD + 6.2-inch display with a cut-out like the iPhone X. At the heart of the novelty are Snapdragon 845, 4, 6 or 8 gigabytes of RAM and 64, 128 or 256 gigabytes of built-in memory. There are two front cameras: one module is normal, and the other is with a wide-angle lens. The basic dual camera is the same as that of ZenFone 5, but optical image stabilization was added here. There is an ordinary fingerprint sensor and a newfangled face recognition scanner. Battery for 3300 mAh with fast charging and technology AI Charging is present. Both smartphones are controlled by the ZenUI 5.0 shell based on the Android 8 Oreo OS. The flagship ASUS ZenFone 5Z will be on sale in June. Price list starts at 479 euros per version for 4/64 GB.
What to expect
We are waiting for two visual clones of the iPhone X running Android OS. The novelties look stylish, they received adequate iron and several memory volumes for consumers with different requests. And ZenFone 5Z in the top configuration easily competes with the flagships of competitors and maybe even will be the winner.
