The Republic of Korea is seeking buyers for a new unmanned helicopter that can perform military and civilian operations

The Republic of Korea has completed the Multi-Purpose Unmanned Helicopter (MPUH) programme. As you have realised, the project resulted in a multi-purpose rotary-wing drone. Now the country is trying to find buyers.

Here's What We Know

The first customer may be the Army of the Republic of Korea. The military service's interest in the unmanned helicopter was announced by a representative of the Republic of Korea's Defence Development Agency during ADEX 2023 in Seoul.

The MPUH programme cost nearly $12 million and lasted four years. The new unmanned helicopter can perform military and civilian missions. In particular, to deliver cargo and conduct surveillance. The UAV is capable of transporting ammunition and food to detached military units.

The helicopter can fly for six hours with a parcel weighing 20kg. The maximum payload mass, however, is 60kg with a take-off weight of 200kg. The drone has a speed of 150 km/h, is capable of climbing to an altitude of more than 3,000 metres and carrying out missions within a radius of 50 km from the control station.
