Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn reflected on Theron Edgerton's role in the superhero world and came to the conclusion that the actor should play a DC villain rather than Wolverine
Director Matthew Vaughn, known for his work on X-Men: First Class and Kingsman: The Secret Service, shared his thoughts on casting for the role of Wolverine.
Here's What We Know
The choice of an actor to play Wolverine after the completion of Hugh Jackman's outstanding work has always piqued the interest of fans. Taron Egerton's name has contributed to the debate, with Matthew Vaughn expressing his belief that the actor should not play Wolverine but a different character - a villain from the DC world.
Vaughn said: "I think he'd be better as Lex Luther. I think he'd be an amazing Luther. He shouldn't be Wolverine, I don't think. I don't think he's right for it ... Hugh's brilliant as Wolverine, but I would go back to what the comic is, do really small little grizzly tough guy.".
Edgerton himself previously shared his thoughts on the possibility of playing Wolverine, saying that he would be up for it and excited, but also feared that replacing Hugh Jackman would be difficult. The actor also emphasised that he has respect for the fans and wants to be a part of the superhero world.
As for the audience, opinions were divided. Some would like to see Theron Edgerton as Wolverine, while others support Matthew Vaughn and see him as Lex Luthor.
