Germany to transfer Patriot missile defence systems and IRIS-T air defence systems to Ukraine in a package worth $1.5bn

Germany is preparing a winter military aid package for Ukraine. It will focus on strengthening air defence ahead of expected attacks on energy infrastructure.
Here's What We Know
This statement was made by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during a speech in Berlin at the sixth German-Ukrainian Economic Forum. He also noted that civil and military aid from Germany has reached €24bn ($25.45bn) since February 2022.
The cost of the new military aid package is estimated at €1.4bn ($1.5bn). It will include Patriot missile defence systems, IRIS-T surface-to-air missile systems and Gepard self-propelled air defence systems.
