Facebook added AR-effects to movie posters in the real world
At last year's F8 conference, Facebook developers introduced the Camera Effects platform to create elements of augmented reality, and now the social network is already testing a new feature in its application.
How it works?
While the company has limited promo to the fantastic films. To see the AR-effects, the user just needs to point the camera of the Facebook application to the poster of the picture in the cinema. In the case of the "Time Fracture" it will be the curving of space, landscapes and plants from other worlds. While it is not known whether there are any special requirements for the filling of the smartphone, the function itself is available to a small number of users.
Our colleagues from TechCrunch also tested the augmented reality mode on the poster of the upcoming movie Fresh trailer "The first player to prepare": a virtual battle for the real world . " The effect appeared, even though the image was scanned at home from the MacBook screen. When you move your smartphone, the virtual window remains in place.
This is the first demonstration of the augmented reality of Facebook using the markers of the physical world. Before that, we only saw different variants of face masks and static elements, not tied to the location of real objects.
Just the beginning
According to representatives of the social network, soon AR will become ubiquitous and turn into an additional level of information, which can be accessed with the help of its smartphone, and in the future - smart points (the social network believes in this format of portable devices).
Facebook opened the developer access to the AR Studio tool in December, so we are waiting for other interesting projects.
