Kharkiv manufacturers have created a machine to prepare soil for demining, it costs 5.6 million dollars and has already been handed over to the sappers
The State Service for Emergency Situations received the first machine for preparing soil for demining, which was developed and manufactured in Ukraine. The presentation of this vehicle took place on 27 October 2023 at the Interregional Centre for Humanitarian Demining and Rapid Response of the State Service for Emergency Situations. The vehicle was handed over to the sappers by the Chairman of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleg Sinegubov.
It is important to emphasise that this vehicle for ground preparation for demining is the result of the work of Kharkiv manufacturers and was the first certified domestic technique of this type. It is remotely controlled, easy to operate, maintain and repair, and its cost is 5 million 600 thousand hryvnias. The easy availability of spare parts for the machine is also an important aspect.
Already in the near future this technique will be involved in field work. In addition, by the end of November another copy of this type of machine will arrive, which was purchased at the expense of the regional budget and is also intended for use in demining.
Why it is important
According to the State Emergency Situations Service of Ukraine (SESU), its employees have already neutralised 447,841 explosive hazards and surveyed more than 100,000 hectares on the territory of Ukraine. On average, the State Emergency Service mines 350 hectares per day and neutralises 320 explosive ordnance items, making 140 visits. The largest number of explosive remnants of war was neutralised in Kharkiv (81,490), Kyiv (80,045), Chernihiv (52,289) and Donetsk (47,225) regions. According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs(OCHA), Ukraine is one of the most mine-contaminated countries in the world.
