The love story has continued: publisher Devolver Digital has announced a merger with American studio System Era Softworks and legalised their relationship
There has been another merger in the gaming industry.
It is not as expensive and important as the merger of Microsoft and Activision Blizzard, but it also deserves attention.
Here's What We Know
Devolver Digital publishing house announced the purchase of American studio System Era Softworks - the author of Astroneer adventures.
The amount of the deal is estimated up to $ 40 million.
Today, after ten years of mutual admiration and friendship, Devolver Digital and System Era declare their undying love for each other in the only way they know how: by putting out the lights, turning up the heat and formalising a strategic business relationship.
System Era was founded in 2014 by former employees of EA, Valve, 343 Industries, Ubisoft, and Disney. Their first project, Astroneer, attracted over 13 million gamers and generated over $87 million in revenue for the creators.
System Era is likely already working on an unannounced project backed by Devolver Digital, but continues to add new content to Astroneer.
