Xbox has teamed up with startup Inworld AI to create generative AI tools. Developers will be able to use them to create dialogue, stories and quests in video games.

Specifically, the partners will develop an "AI designer" that will turn ideas into detailed scripts, dialogue, quests, and other game elements. They're also working on an "AI engine for characters". It will be able to be plugged into existing games to generate new stories and dialogue in real time.

Xbox says these tools will help developers realise ideas, experiment and improve gameplay. Inworld claims that its technology can create characters with colourful personalities that stay within the confines of the game world.

Xbox hopes the new tools will inspire studios to create innovation and push the boundaries of modern gaming. The company plans to collaborate with both its internal studios and external developers.
