Ukraine is developing a new modification of the Neptun anti-ship cruise missile
Ukraine is working on another modification of the Neptun anti-ship missile. This was stated by Ukrainian Deputy Defence Minister Lieutenant-General Ivan Havrylyuk.
Here's What We Know
At the moment there is no information about what the new modification of the Ukrainian missile will be. It is now known as the "long Neptune". Earlier Ukraine was able to modernise the anti-ship missile, providing the ability to hit ground targets. At the same time, the range increased to 400 kilometres and the weight of the warhead to 350 kg.
In late summer 2023, an upgraded version of the anti-ship missile struck a Russian air defence facility in Crimea. As a result, the S-400 Triumf complex was destroyed.
Ivan Gavrilyuk added that work is also underway to strengthen the air defence system. In particular, modernisation of the Soviet S-300 and Buk surface-to-air missile systems is planned. The details of the project are not specified.
