Apple is preparing to release the iOS 17.2 update. As it turns out, some iPhone models with the firmware will receive a new wireless charging standard.
Here's What We Know
This was told by our colleagues from MacRumors. We are talking about Qi2 charging. It will be added to the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 models.
Qi2 is the next-generation Qi wireless charging technology, which includes a magnetic power profile. Qi2 devices will work with MagSafe-enabled accessories. Incidentally, Apple added Qi2 support to the iPhone 15 models with their release.
The Qi2 standard allows charging devices with up to 15W of power, but Apple will likely limit charging to 7.5W.
