Ukraine's Special Operations Forces destroy the latest 1K148 Yastreb-AV artillery reconnaissance system using HIMARS
It is worth $250 million
Ukraine's Special Operations Forces reported the destruction of the enemy's 1K148 Yastreb-AV artillery reconnaissance system. This happened on the same day that a Russian news agency reported its use.
While conducting reconnaissance in the southern direction, the crew of the 73rd Maritime Centre of the Special Forces (the head of the Come Back Alive Foundation Taras Chmut noted that it was a Shark UAV, money for which was raised during the Eye for an Eye campaign together with the OKKO petrol station chain) discovered the 1K148 Yastreb-AV artillery reconnaissance system. The SIGINT operators, together with a friendly unit of the Defence Forces, the 140th separate mechanised rifle brigade, adjusted HIMARS fire at the enemy target.
"The enemy's Yastreb-AV system was destroyed as a result of fire damage"
Background information on Yastreb-AV
"The Yastreb-AV is a Russian counter-battery radar designed to detect and locate enemy artillery positions. The station was developed by Rostec Corporation and is manufactured by NPO Fazotron-NIIR. Yastreb-AV is mounted on a four-axle chassis BAZ-6910-025. The station is equipped with a radar complex with a phased array antenna, which allows automatic tracking of the trajectory of shells fired by enemy artillery, determining the exact coordinates of positions.
Potential characteristics of Yastreb-AV
- Maximum detection range: 60 km
- Maximum height of target detection: 30 km
- Number of simultaneously detected targets: up to 200
- Deployment time: up to 5 minutes
"The Yastreb-AV was adopted by the Russian army in 2022. The media reports that the cost of the complex is $250 million, but Taras Chmut believes this estimate is overstated.
