Exclusive details on 'Ballerina' from 'John Wick' star Ian McShane: plot and timeline
Ian McShane, who played Winston in the four 'John Wick' films, has revealed more details about the upcoming 'Ballerina' spin-off. The actor spoke about the timeline of events and his role in the upcoming film.
Here's What We Know
McShane noted that the plot of "Ballerina" is set between the events of "John Wick 3" and "John Wick 4," which eliminates possible talk and speculation about the death of Wick, Keanu Reeves' character, in the latter instalment.
"This one is set in between John Wick 3 and John Wick 4, because Keanu is in it, too. You didn't want to set it after John Wick 4, because then you'd have social media saying, 'Oh, so he's still alive! What's he going to do next time? Is there a John Wick 5?!' This way, you can still keep up the pretense that there might not be a John Wick 5."

McShane also shared information on how his character is integrated into the "Ballerina" plot, drawing an analogy between his role in the upcoming spin-off and his original performance in "John Wick." In both films, Winston proves to be an unexpected protector of the protagonist.
