Rumour: iOS 18 could be the biggest software update in iPhone history
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple has big plans for a future version of its iOS 18 operating system.

In a Q&A section of his Power On newsletter today, Mark Gurman said that iOS 18 could be the biggest update in Apple's smartphone history.

There are no details yet, but we already know about a few features of iOS 18. The first is support for the RCS cross-platform messaging standard. It should lead to improvements in messaging between iPhone and Android devices. Namely - it will allow you to send audio messages, photos and videos in high resolution, see typing indicators and improve encryption over SMS.
Apple announced RCS support last year and promised to add the feature later in 2024. Therefore, the innovation is likely to come in iOS 18.
The second feature is a smart Siri with generative artificial intelligence technology. Apple is rumoured to be planning to incorporate large language patterns into Siri to allow users to automate complex tasks.
iOS 18 is due for release in September, with the first developer beta expected earlier - during Apple's annual WWDC developer conference in June.
