Cillian Murphy will return in the sequel to "28 Days Later" as an executive producer, and possibly in the lead role
A sequel to the legendary post-apocalyptic film 28 Days Later is already in development. It was previously reported that director Danny Boyle and screenwriter Alex Garland have returned to the project, and now it's being reported that Cillian Murphy, who starred in the original 2003 film, will serve as executive producer. And perhaps more than that....
Here's What We Know
According to THR, Sony has acquired the rights to make two more instalments of the film, which has been titled 28 Years Later. The publication also hints that Murphy, in addition to serving as executive producer, "may also have a role" in the new sequel, though the latter has yet to be confirmed.
The original "28 Days Later" was a cult "zombie film" credited with redefining the genre and breaking new ground for post-apocalyptic works. It was followed by a standalone sequel, directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, titled 28 Weeks Later.
Here's What The Movie Is About
The original film is about a bicycle courier, played by Murphy, who comes out of a coma and discovers that a virus called the "rage virus" has almost destroyed society.
What the plot of the upcoming 28 Years Later will be is still unknown.
When We Can Expect It
