Microsoft exposes hackers from Russia, China, and Iran using AI
Microsoft has reported that Russian, Chinese and Iranian hackers, backed by their respective states, have been using artificial intelligence tools to deceive people.
Here's What We Know
The company is known to have tracked groups linked to Russian military intelligence, Iran's Revolutionary Guard, and the governments of China and North Korea. The hackers tried to improve their operations by using large-scale language models, meaning they generated human-like responses through AI.
Microsoft has also imposed a general ban on the use of its AI products by state-sponsored hacking groups.
The Chinese embassy in the US said it opposes "baseless slander and accusations against China" because it is in favour of "safe, reliable and controlled" development of AI technology.
