Google will add audiomoji sound reactions to Android phone calls
Reactions have become an integral part in messaging apps. Emoji play a significant role in today's world as a means of expressing emotions, ideas or context in digital communication. They help clarify and amplify the emotional content of a message, add humour and express cultural nuances. And now Google is working on a new kind of Audiomojis reactions for phone calls.
Here's What We Know
According to code researcher AssembleDebug, Google is working on adding sound effects to phone calls in response to something said during the call. For example, imagine telling your friend some joke in the middle of a conversation and immediately afterwards a drum roll sounds. In the beta version of Google Phone 124, AssembleDebug found some files related to the audio response feature. Back in September, he came across a "sound response" screen in the Google Phone beta, which he shared in his Telegram feed.
After a while, Google removed the lines of code that enabled this screen and the option was accepted as a bug. But in the beta version of Google Phone 124, AssembleDebug found some files related to the audio response feature. Google calls these sound reactions audio-moji and there are a total of six found - applause, celebration, drum roll, fart, laughter and sadness. You can listen to them in the AssembleDebug piece.
That's also how the animations will appear on screen:
Final details on exactly how Google plans to integrate this feature are still lacking. But since significant progress has been made in development over the past few months and sounds are now available, Audiomoji will undoubtedly be coming soon.
