Oppo announced Air Glass 3 AR glasses powered by artificial intelligence
Oppo has unveiled a prototype of its third-generation Air Glass 3 augmented reality glasses with artificial intelligence support at MWC 2024.
Details
OPPO's new glasses claim to be the world's lightest full-colour binocular glasses at just 50g. They look like regular thick-rimmed glasses and don't look at all like complicated and heavy mixed reality glasses. The glasses feature an artificial intelligence voice assistant powered by AndesGPT (currently only available in China) and also support touch interaction to control music, voice calls, display information and view images. They feature four microphones designed to improve noise isolation and Oppo promises high sound quality.
Despite the lightweight design, the Air Glass 3 boasts a bright display with 1000 nits of brightness provided by the Spark micro projector, ensuring you can clearly see virtual information even in brightly lit environments. And with an ultra-thin waveguide, with a refractive index of 1.7, you won't get the rainbow patterns seen on optical transparent displays like these. The dimensions of the OPPO Air Glass 3 are 164.84 x 164 x 48.4 mm. It uses magnesium-lithium alloy for the frame and PA nylon material for the temples. OPPO also plans to provide customised optical lenses for people who need them. The company says features such as teleprompter, navigation, timer, translation and quick previews of health and fitness information will come in future software updates. Using the Air Glass app, they will connect to OPPO smartphones with Color OS 13 and above.
Eventually, the company also plans to endow the device with support for various generative AI features like AI Eraser for photo and image editing. The said feature is available in Reno 11 series and Find N3 series smartphones.
