Google ends support for YouTube Kids app on smart TVs

Soon, the so-called "Google graveyard" will have one more app that the search giant will stop supporting. And that's YouTube Kids.

Here's What We Know

YouTube Kids was introduced in February 2015 by YouTube as a dedicated kids app for use on a variety of platforms, including smart TVs, consoles, and streaming devices. The standalone YouTube Kids app will be completely removed from TVs in July. Instead, the Kids app will still be available on a child's profile, within the YouTube app. Essentially, this means that the standalone Kids app will be merged with the main YouTube client.

Flashback

YouTube Kids is a separate app designed for kids developed by YouTube. The platform offers safe and appropriate content for kids, from early childhood to adolescence. The app features filters, blocking of inappropriate content, and parental controls to customise viewing times and restrict access to certain videos. YouTube Kids provides children with educational, educational and entertaining content including cartoons, educational videos, audiobooks and music, creating a safe environment for learning and development.
