Germany orders new Skyranger 30 air defence systems
The Bundeswehr has signed a contract with German company Rheinmetall to install the Skyranger 30 mobile air defence system on Boxer armoured vehicles.

According to the corporation, the contract is worth €595 million. It includes the delivery of a prototype and 18 production vehicles, with an option to order an additional 30 systems.
The first units are to be delivered by the end of 2024.
The company notes that this system is an optimal combination of mobility, protection, accuracy and will meet new challenges. Skyranger 30 is designed for German Boxers and will be armed with Stinger missiles. Although the system can be equipped with other missiles, such as Mistral.
It is also known that in January, the Bundeswehr commissioned Rheinmetall to develop a short- and very short-range air defence system, in which the Skyranger 30 will be a key component.
