Google Pixel 8 series named as the "Best Smartphone" of 2023

The Global Mobile Awards ceremony was held at MWC. The event includes a number of awards for the mobile industry, such as Best Mobile Technology Breakthrough, Best Mobile Network Infrastructure and others. In the Device category, one of the most significant awards went to the Best Smartphone.

Google's Senior Vice President of Devices and Services Rick Osterloh announced the good news on Twitter/X, accompanying it with a photo of the Pixel 8 team posing with the trophy.

Google Pixel 8 took the top honours and was named the "Best Smartphone" of 2023 at MWC. The title was awarded by the GSMA as part of its annual Global Mobile Awards (GLOMO) ceremonies. The nominations take into account the performance, innovation and success of smartphones and are judged by leading independent analysts, journalists and influencers. Candidates included the iPhone 15 Pro, OnePlus Open, Samsung Galaxy S23 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, as well as the Google Pixel 8. This is the first time Google has won the title. The Pixel 8 series also hit a new record, shipping 10 million units in 2023.
