Apple's self-repair programme is now available on MacBook Pro and iMac with M3 processor
Apple has steadily expanded its self-repair programme since it launched two years ago. Starting today, it's now possible to access the tools, parts, and repair guides needed to repair the latest MacBook Pro and iMac models powered by the company's M3 chips.
Here's What We Know
Starting April 2022, Self Service Repair gives users access to the same manuals, genuine Apple parts and tools used in Apple shops and at authorised service centres. Soon, owners of systems with M3 chips will be able to use Apple Diagnostics for Self Service Repair. This web-based tool allows users to test devices for optimal functionality and performance, as well as identify parts that need repair.
Apple is also improving the system configuration process for all Mac models to simplify repairs. Mac owners will no longer need to contact Self Service Repair to complete repairs. The updated process will be available early next month in all countries where Self Service Repair is supported. Self Service Repair is part of Apple's efforts to expand access to repairs, which helps extend product life and is good for the environment.
