Embracer Group's big sale: media reported that the Swedish holding company is parting ways with Gearbox Software and Saber Interactive
It seems that the global restructuring of the Embracer Group holding company will reach a climax next week.
Here's What We Know
In autumn 2023, the first information appeared that Embracer Group is going to sell the company Gearbox Software - the author of the popular franchise Borderlands and other famous games. According to Kotaku portal, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford will announce to employees and investors about parting with Embracer Group as early as next week.
Gearbox has two options: move under the wing of another gaming industry giant or regain its status as an independent publisher.
It is noteworthy that Gearbox joined Embracer Group only in 2021 and managed to release only a few games.
But that's not all the news about Embracer. According to Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, the Swedish holding company will soon announce the sale of the international company Saber Interactive to private investors.
According to Schreier, the value of the deal will be $500 million, which is much less than the amount that was once paid by Embracer Group for Saber. The journalist mentioned that despite rumours about the cancellation of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake, the company will continue working on the project without the Swedish publisher.
