Dragon's Dogma 2 will feature three bosses on the same screen at the same time, - says the game director
Dragon's Dogma 2 is less than two weeks away from release, and while we actually know quite a bit about the game, we still don't know about the "scale of the game experience", especially considering the fact that the game world will be four times larger than its predecessor. In an interview with Automaton-Media, Hideaki Itsuno, the game's director, spoke about some of the game's features that were achieved thanks to modern hardware.
Here's What We Know
Despite how impressive the first Dragon's Dogma was, there were still "a lot of technological shortcomings in terms of creating a proper open world. For example, when entering a densely populated area such as a castle or dungeon, there was a short loading time to switch from long-range data to detailed interior data, which prevented a seamless gaming experience."
In turn, in Dragon's Dogma 2, all dungeons, cities and building interiors will be "seamlessly connected", which confirms the studio's previous statement that the game will not have loading screens. Other innovations include a "significantly larger" number of NPCs. There may even be more bosses on the screen at the same time.
"In Dragon’s Dogma, if we had two large boss monsters appear, we would struggle to get the ‘small fry’ monsters in there too. But in the sequel, even having three large bosses at the same time is no problem, so the player can experience stumbling upon the next boss while running away from the previous one. Running away will now come with a risk, adding a dose of realism to the chase."
The latest game marks a significant leap in AI behaviour compared to the previous one. In addition, the introduction of a new race, the Beastren, adds an intriguing element to the gameplay. At the initial stage of the game's development, the team faced problems with the inclusion of a large number of fur-covered characters and had to abandon this idea. However, in the sequel, the Bistren race takes centre stage, representing their nation of Battal and allowing for the creation of Beastren Arisen.
Where To Play
Upon release, the game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Windows consoles.
