France suffers intense cyber attacks on ministries
The French government has been hit by cyberattacks of "unprecedented intensity" and a special crisis centre has been activated to restore online services.
Here's What We Know
Prime Minister Gabriel Attal said in a statement that the attacks began on Sunday evening and hit several government ministries. By Monday afternoon, he said, "the impact of the attacks had been mitigated for most services and access to government websites had been restored."
Anonymous Sudan, a group of hackers believed to be pro-Russian, claimed responsibility for the attacks. The French prime minister's office and the digital security agency did not comment on the statement or share whether any damage had been done.
The hacker attack was likely aimed at shutting down the websites. To do this, the hackers overloaded them with data to reboot and disable them.
