iOS 17.4 update causes battery drain and charging issues

The latest iPhone software update brought users over 100 new emoji, security updates and a number of other changes. However, some users have discovered an annoying issue that may discourage you from downloading iOS 17.4. Disgruntled Apple fans have spoken out on social media, warning others that the update has severely reduced their battery life. One user claimed their battery dropped 40 per cent in two hours of use, while another reported a 13 per cent drop over the course of two posts.

The latest iOS update was released just recently and brought iPhone users a wide range of changes and bug fixes. Most notably, iOS 17.4 includes 118 new emoji. The update also includes a major security update for iMessage, which is designed to protect users' messages from future attacks by quantum computers.

However, some users who have already downloaded the new software say it has also had a negative impact on their battery life. Less than 24 hours after the update was released, Apple users have already turned to X (formerly Twitter), reporting that the update has resulted in increased battery consumption. They're warning those who haven't yet updated to the new iOS 17.4 version to take their time installing the new software. Battery charging also became an issue after installing iOS 17.4. One iPhone 11 Pro owner plugged his phone into an outlet with the battery at 40 per cent. Four hours later, the battery was still not fully charged with only 94%.

The affected iPhone owners are now waiting for the next software update that will fix the problem. If you're already experiencing an increase in battery drain, it's recommended that you wait until the update is optimised to work. In the same way, you can also try rebooting your device and make sure that all the apps are updated to the latest versions.
