An obvious success: Unicorn Overlord took first place in terms of copies sold in Japan
After the release of Unicorn Overlord, physical copies of the game in Japan were selling like hotcakes, forcing Atlus to apologise for the shortage of supplies. According to the latest weekly Famitsu charts, Unicorn Overlord topped the sales rankings in the region last week.
What we know.
The fantasy tactical role-playing game topped the top 10 with over 40 thousand copies sold on Nintendo Switch, followed by the PlayStation 5 version with over 24 thousand, and the PlayStation 4 version with over 8 thousand copies sold. Unicorn Overlord's total physical sales in Japan reached 74,186 copies, surpassing Vanillaware's previous game, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim.
In contrast, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth dropped to second place after debuting at the top. Its sales in the second week fell by 91%, which is comparable to the sales drop of previous Final Fantasy titles.
