Xiaomi Pad 6 tablets won't get Android 15 despite Xiaomi's promises

Xiaomi seemed to have wanted to discreetly shorten the support duration for the Xiaomi Pad 6 tablets. But attentive users have revealed its plans.

Details

The Xiaomi Pad 6 tablet debuted in April 2023 along with Android 13 out of the box. At the time, Xiaomi promised it two major updates to the operating system, but recently changed its plans.

An archived version (20 October 2023) of Xiaomi's Security Centre website confirms that the Xiaomi Pad 6 was supposed to get both Android 14 and Android 15. However, the current version (16 March 2024) has removed Android 15 completely without any explanation. Xiaomi has left information that the tablet will only get Android 14.

Meanwhile, the device will continue to receive security updates every 90 days until June 2026 as promised. Although Xiaomi Pad 6 owners will probably not feel any better from this.
