After 20 years, Apple has decided to rename Apple ID
MacRumors previously reported that Apple wants to rename the term "Apple ID". Now this information is confirmed by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
Here's What We Know
The term "Apple ID" refers to a user's personal account, which provides access to various Apple services: for example, iCloud, App Store and other online Apple shops. The company started using the term more than two decades ago, but has now decided to rename it.
According to Mark Gurman, the rebranding will take place later this year. The new name for "Apple ID" is "Apple Account." The term "Apple ID" is expected to be dropped entirely. Why is unknown.
Apple will unveil iOS 18 and other major updates to its software at its WWDC developer conference in June, at which time the "Apple Account" rebranding will likely be announced.
