Nvidia presents a new Blackwell artificial intelligence chip
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has unveiled a new artificial intelligence chip that will expand the company's market dominance.
Here's What We Know
At the GTC conference in San Jose, the company said that the new Blackwell processor is several times faster than the models underlying artificial intelligence. This includes the process of technology development, i.e. training, and its execution.
Blackwell chips, which consist of 208 billion transistors, will become the basis for new computers and other products of the world's largest data centre operators, such as Amazon, Microsoft, Alphabet (Google). According to Nvidia, products from Google and Oracle Corp. based on Blackwell will be available this year.
Its predecessor, Hopper, was able to make the company a market leader. And the flagship product from this line, the H100, has become one of the most valuable products in the tech world. In general, Nvidia is the first chipmaker with a market capitalisation of more than $2 trillion.
