'Young Sheldon' finale promises a reunion with 'The Big Bang Theory': Jim Parsons and Mayhem Bialik will return to their roles in the final episode
Fans, you better buckle up now! Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will return to their iconic roles as Sheldon Cooper and Big Bang Theory's Amy Farrah Fowler in the final episode of the Young Sheldon prequel.
Here's What We Know
This will be Parsons and Bialik's first on-screen appearance together since "Big Bang Theory" wrapped in May 2019.
In a recent interview, Parsons shared his excitement about returning to the role of Sheldon, who he played for 12 seasons. The actor noted that he had already filmed his part for the series finale of "Young Sheldon" and said that it exceeded his expectations:
"It was beautiful. It was even more beautiful than I expected it to be. One of the reasons I was excited to do it is because what they wrote is so sweet and I think they worked Mayim and I into that show so beautifully" said Parsons and continued: "I hope everyone agrees. But also for us the way that they tape -- because they're a single-camera show and we're multi-camera -- the whole look of the show was a really special experience. To get to go with Mayim, in a world we're really guests and revisit these characters a little older, just a completely different circumstance."
That said, Parsons, who is an executive producer and voice actor on "Young Sheldon," admitted that transforming into the adult version of Sheldon took some adjustment. The actor compared it to putting on old shoes and expecting to feel more confident.
The great news is that after the final seventh season of "Young Sheldon" wraps up in April, it's safe to expect further expansion of the "Big Bang Theory" universe. CBS has announced that a spin-off has been ordered that will focus on George and Mandy raising their family in Texas.
