Overwatch 2 director talks about some important changes to the game in "Season 10": free heroes and a new mythic skin shop
In the latest Overwatch 2 Developer Update, game director Aaron Keller revealed some significant changes to the game that will be made in Season 10: for example, all heroes will be free, and the game will have a special store for mythic skins.
Here's What We Know
In the tenth season, Overwatch 2 will introduce the damage-doing character Ventur, but you won't have to complete Battle Pass quests or buy Premium: the character and all future heroes will be completely free, just like in the original Overwatch. If you've been playing the game since its launch, other characters (Mauga, Illari, Lifeweaver, Kiriko, etc.) will also be available in the season. If you're new to the game, you'll still need to complete the new player training course, which involves participating in matches to unlock the basic roster of characters.
The post also states that players will be able to progress towards unlocking mythic skins while increasing the level of the Premium Battle Pass. This means that players will be able to control how much they invest in customising each of the skins. Next season, Overwatch coins can be earned on both free and premium Battle Pass tracks, with up to 600 of them available per season. Previously, they could be obtained through weekly challenges, but now they can be used to get XP for the Battle Pass, which will allow you to progress faster in the game.
When We Can Expect It
Overwatch 2: Season 10 is expected to launch in April.
Where To Play
Overwatch 2 is available to play on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series consoles, Nintendo Switch, and Windows.
