WD introduces new WD Red Pro NAS hard drives with capacities up to 24TB
Western Digital (WD) has announced the release of its latest NAS hard drive models, the WD Red Pro, which offer up to 24 terabytes of storage in a traditional 3.5-inch form factor.

These drives, based on CMR magnetic recording technology, are designed for high-performance work under constant load conditions.
According to the company, the new models (WD240KFGX) provide reliable performance with a 7200 RPM rotational speed and a 6Gbps SATA interface. They offer low power consumption and high data transfer rates of up to 287MB/s.
The new drives also feature a number of advanced technologies, including OptiNAND for improved reliability and optimised performance, and NASware for optimal performance in NAS systems. They also feature vibration and shock sensors to prevent damage.
WD emphasises that the new WD Red Pro drives are ideal for large enterprises, multimedia professionals and enterprise NAS systems. The latest models are priced at around $570.
