Insider: Samsung is developing two foldable smartphones in the FE series
Two interesting screenshots have surfaced online that supposedly indicate the development of cheaper versions of foldable devices under the Fan Edition brand. These claims are questionable as the source does not have an impeccable reputation and the screenshots raise unusual questions.
Here's What We Know
The images mention Samsung's foldable phones named Galaxy Fold FE and Galaxy Flip FE. The Flip FE version apparently has 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage and possibly a Snapdragon 7-series chip. The claimed Galaxy Fold FE raises certain suspicions. If you look closely, the blurry screenshot indicates that the phone is not powered by an Exynos 2200 or Exynos 2400 chip, but another unknown Exynos SoC that starts with a "2". This could be the defunct Exynos 2300. It could also be an old leak that no longer reflects Samsung's current plans.
In addition, the whistleblower claims in his tweet that only one of these foldable Fan Edition phones will be released. Exactly which one is unclear. Certainly, these screenshots are not recommended to be taken at face value. However, these aren't the first claims that Samsung may be working on a foldable Fan Edition phone, so there may be some truth to them.
Samsung is expected to hold its next Unpacked event in early July. As we get closer to the presentation, Samsung's real intentions will be reflected through leaks and rumours with a greater degree of accuracy.
