Fallout writers: the series "barely touched the surface of the video game world"
The writers of the "Fallout" series have admitted that trying to turn one of the world's most expansive gaming franchises into an eight-episode TV series was a tough challenge for them.
Here's What We Know
16 years after "Fallout 3" propelled the franchise to the top of the video game industry, Amazon Studios and Westworld's Jonathan Nolan set out to develop a storyline for a live-action TV series.
Fans of the video game have repeatedly wondered how the creators intend to fit such a global world into a mini-series, and finally got a comment from the writers themselves, Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner. The short answer is that no way.
In a conversation with ComicBook, they admitted that it was simply impossible to fit it all into one season. But, they filled every frame of the series with references and hints to the Fallout universe:
"It's story in every terminal, in every filing cabinet, just an amazing abundance of story and then we have eight hours of a season. And the moment it dawns on you just how little you can actually get in and get in effectively. We had a great group of writers, an amazing story team on set. Every nook and cranny of the frame is filled with stuff. But we still feel like we barely scratched the surface of the Fallout world in this first season. But we hope it's a memorable scratch.".
While no information has been forthcoming from Prime Video about a second season of Fallout, the creative team already has ideas about where to go if the series gets renewed for additional episodes.
When We Can Expect It
All eight episodes of Fallout will debut on Prime Video on 11 April.
