Google a number: Google Phone app is testing a new feature - search for unknown number
Do you have a missed call on your phone, but that number is not recorded in the phone book? Surely many people would like to know who it is before they call back. There are various services like Truecaller for this purpose, and now Google is developing its own alternative.
Here's What We Know
In the beta version of the Google Phone 127.0.620688474 app, a new feature has been discovered that searches for unknown numbers. A "Search" button has been added under the numbers from the call log that are not in your contacts. When you click on it, the system automatically populates the unknown number into the Google search engine. Of course, you could copy it yourself, so it's essentially a matter of saving a few seconds.
Thus, the main purpose of the new feature is to quickly identify companies whose contact details are indexed by Google. After all, you won't find the numbers of individuals in the search engine. Therefore, applications like Truecaller will not lose their relevance.
Apparently, the innovation has been working in Japan since March and may appear worldwide in June.
