Android Auto issue: Voice navigation commands were being forced through Google Maps

Some Android Auto users have experienced unexpected behaviour from their system where voice commands for navigation are automatically routed through Google Maps, despite their own preferences.

Users reported the issue, which lasted for several weeks and prevented them from choosing another navigation app such as Waze. It was noted that voice navigation commands simply returned to Google Maps, despite the user's choice.

Some owners have noted that updating the Google Maps app to version 15.13.46.28 resolves this issue and allows them to select navigation apps in Android Auto again. This update is known to restore functionality that did not work correctly after the previous software.
