Samsung to build another chip fab in the US
The South Korean semiconductor giant, Samsung Electronics, has confirmed its plans to increase its investment in the US to create and package advanced semiconductor chips. The company plans to spend up to $44 billion for this purpose, which will double its previous investments.
Here's What We Know
A key part of this initiative is the construction of a new fab in Taylor, Texas. This plant will combine the production of semiconductor chips and their packaging for the market. It is also planned to create a research space for the development of new technologies in the same region.
This expansion of Samsung's operations in the US has become relevant due to the escalation of geopolitical disputes and changes in international relations. Tensions with China have led the US to restrict technology trade with Chinese companies.
The government is trying to reduce its dependence on Chinese chip suppliers and is luring the giants to set up their chip manufacturing plants in the US.
