Lone Fisherman's Nightmares is coming to the big screens: a film adaptation of hit indie game Dredge has been announced
Recently, the British Film producers take note: survey shows gamers' interest in Red Dead Redemption and Mass Effect film adaptations, which showed that according to gamers, Red Dead Redemption (41%), Mass Effect (38%), Horizon (33%) and The Elder Scrolls with 29% of votes deserve a film or series adaptation.
Film producers have not yet declared their interest in the film adaptation of these games, but it has become known that the audience is expecting a film based on an indie game, which in itself is surprising.
Here's What We Know
In March 2023, the meditative indie game Dredge with elements of horror was released, in which players are invited to travel on the sea on a small ship, catch fish and enjoy the beautiful scenery - this is during the day. And at night, the fisherman faces panic, hallucinations and monsters.
The game was extremely warmly received by critics and the public and named one of the best indie projects of the year, and now it's been revealed that film company Story Kitchen will team up with developers from Black Salt Games to make a feature-length adaptation of Dredge.
No further details have been released, but it is known that the film will star real actors.
Like the game, the adaptation will combine the peaceful atmosphere of Ernest Hemingway's books with the eerie motifs of Howard Lovecraft's (HP Lovecraft) novels.
Story Kitchen promises to treat the source material with care and provide viewers with a worthy adaptation of Dredge.
