New photo editing tool for Google Pixel 8 coming to iPhone

Google has announced that next month it will expand the availability of its AI-powered photo editing feature to all Google Photos users on iOS.

Here's What We Know

Known as Magic Editor, which was heavily promoted in last year's Google Pixel 8 series marketing campaign, Magic Editor uses generative artificial intelligence to make complex photo edits. It is capable of filling in gaps, moving objects, and making additional adjustments that are typically associated with professional editing tools such as Photoshop.

This editing tool was initially available only to Google Pixel 8 owners and Google One subscribers. However, starting 15 May, it will be available to all Google Photos users on iOS.

In the Google Photos app for iOS and Android, users will have access to 10 Magic Editor saves per month for free. For more saves, they can purchase the Premium Google One plan, which starts with 2 TB of storage for $10 per month or $100 per year.

In addition to Magic Editor, Google also offers a number of other photo editing tools in Google Photos, such as Photo Unblur, Sky Offers, Color Pop, HDR effects for photos and videos, Portrait Blur, Portrait Light (with the ability to add light and light balance), cinematic photos, collage styles in the editor, and video effects.

To use the AI features, users of Apple devices must have iOS 15 or later.

Google Photos is a free app for iPhone and iPad available in the App Store.
