Apple may release M4 chips for Macs with artificial intelligence

According to an insider, in early 2025, Apple plans to update its Mac lineup with new M4 processors. These chips will be aimed at improving performance to develop artificial intelligence capabilities.

Here's What We Know

The first models to receive M4 chips will be the iMac, the low-cost 14-inch MacBook Pro, the high-end 14-inch MacBook Pro, the 16-inch MacBook Pro, and the Mac mini. Later, M4 chips will also appear in MacBook Air, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro.

M4 chips will be available in three main variants: Donan for the lower end, Brava for the mid-range, and Hidra for the highest end. These new chips are expected to offer improved performance and power efficiency through the use of an advanced 3-nm manufacturing process.

Some of the main features of the new chips will be an increased number of cores in the improved Neural Engine, as well as support for up to 512GB of unified memory for Mac desktop versions, going beyond the current limit of 192GB.
