Elon Musk says charging a small fee for new Twitter accounts will be the "only way" to stop the "onslaught of bots"
Elon Musk has announced a new policy under which new users of the X platform will be required to pay a small fee for the opportunity to publish.
Here's What We Know
According to Musk, charging a fee is mandatory to prevent the onslaught of bots on the platform. Artificial intelligence does not always effectively distinguish between real users and automated accounts.
New account holders will be able to publish content on the platform three months after creating an account without paying for it. This can help attract new users and stimulate activity on the platform.
Unfortunately, a small fee for new user write access is the only way to curb the relentless invasion of bots.

Current AI (and troll farms) can pass "are you a bot" with ease.
This policy is part of X's overall effort to fight spam and improve the quality of content on the platform. Earlier this month, X announced a large-scale purge of spam accounts and warned users that this could affect their number of followers.
It is known that the X platform already has a payment policy for some features. For example, access to some features of the Grok chatbot is available for a certain monthly fee for premium users.
Information on the details of the implementation of this policy is not yet available.
