Apple changes its approach: iOS 18 abandons cloud servers for AI
Based on data from Bloomberg and other sources, it has become known that Apple will release the first set of artificial intelligence features for iOS 18 that will not use cloud servers. This means that these functions will be completely device-specific.
Here's What We Know
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the company's large language model lacks a cloud processing component that provides new opportunities.
While some cloud-based AI features may be offered through Google's Gemini or other providers, Apple is unlikely to include its own ChatGPT-like chatbot directly in iOS 18.
Nevertheless, there are rumours that iOS 18 will have new generative AI features for various tools such as Spotlight on iPhone, Siri, Safari, shortcuts, Apple Music, Messages, Health, Numbers, Pages, Keynote.
Apple will announce the software update at its annual WWDC developer conference, which is scheduled for 10-14 June.
