WhatsApp: New tools to better control spam and privacy
WhatsApp is preparing to make important changes to its status update functionality to combat spam and improve user privacy.
Here's What We Know
Status updates are known to play an important role in how users interact with their contacts. In order to ensure that this feature is used more effectively, WhatsApp is working on introducing two new features.
The first is private mentioning of contacts in the status. This feature will allow users to mention other users privately, without the others' knowledge, providing an opportunity to draw attention to certain content.
The second new feature will be the ability to ignore status updates from certain users, which will help prevent spam and unwanted interactions.
The updates were discovered in the latest beta version of the app, version 2.24.9.16, by WABetaInfo.
If you would like to try out these new features, you can join the WhatsApp beta via the Google Play Store. This will allow you to receive the latest updates and try them out before they are released to the public.
