How Apple Watch helped save a cyclist's life
The fall detection system on the Apple Watch was crucial to the life of one of the cyclists.
Here's What We Know
Eric Zollinger, a 49-year-old cyclist, found himself in an emergency situation on the road during a rainstorm when his bike crashed into a depression hidden under water.
After the accident, when he was at home, he tried to recover, but while taking a shower, he discovered a significant loss of blood from his nose.
Eric lost consciousness and fell, hitting the side of the bathtub. However, he soon regained consciousness after hearing a strange sound. It turned out that his Apple Watch had automatically called 911 when he collapsed. The gadget also sent an emergency message to Zollinger's emergency contacts, informing them of his exact location.
This quick mechanism allowed the victim's ambulance to be called in time.
