Sony has announced an Xperia event on 17 May
Sony has officially announced an event called "Xperia Special Event 2024" which will take place on the 17th of May. Note that this is a pretty exclusive event with only 100 people invited to the event.
Here's What We Know
The organisers have made sure that everyone can learn about the latest Xperia innovations and will hold a live broadcast of the event. During the event, Xperia developers will present "the latest features in real life". The main question on the public's mind is whether all three models of the new Xperia smartphones (1, 5 and 10) will be announced at the event, or if some of them will be coming later.
Last year, Sony announced the Xperia 1 V and 10 V on 11 May, while the Xperia 5 V wasn't unveiled until September. The new Sony Xperia 1 VI is rumoured to ditch the 4K display and move to a more standard aspect ratio (6.5" display, 19.5:9), while avoiding the cutouts and camera holes. However, the camera may remain the same as last year. The 1-series phones are expected to have an increase in RAM, up to 16GB, while the 5-series model will remain at 8GB.
