Tesla is recalling all of its Cybertruck due to a faulty single part
Tesla has announced a recall of all of its Cybertruck electric pickup trucks due to a single fault.
Here's What We Know
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on Wednesday, the defect can cause the pedal pad to shift and get stuck in the vehicle's interior trim when a "high force is applied." The reason for this fault is due to the addition of some sort of lubricant during the pedal assembly phase.
The truck's brakes will still work if the accelerator pedal gets stuck. Plus, Tesla says it is not aware of any collisions, injuries or deaths related to the pedal malfunction.
The recall affects all 2024 model year Cybertruck vehicles manufactured between 13 November 2023 and 4 April 2024. Simply put, that's all 3,878 vehicles - every Cybertruck delivered to customers since its launch last year.
Tesla promises to replace or repair the recalled vehicles' pedals free of charge. And trucks released after 17 April will be fitted with a new accelerator pedal component and part number.
By the way, this is the second major recall this year: in February, Tesla announced a recall of 2 million cars in the US because the font on the signal lamp panel was too small to meet safety standards. This problem was resolved by the company with a software update.
