Thermonator - the world's first robot dog with a flamethrower is now available for purchase
Throwflame from Ohio, USA has launched Thermonator, the world's first flamethrowing robot dog. Throwflame announced the fire robot back last summer and now this robot is finally on sale. The device, which is available to buy now, features a four-legged Unitree Go2 robot and an ARC flamethrower powered by petrol or napalm.
Here's What We Know
The Thermonator has a one-hour battery life, a flamethrower range of up to 10 metres and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity for remote control via smartphone. It also includes a LIDAR sensor for mapping and obstacle avoidance, a laser sight and CCTV navigation from an on-board camera.
Possible applications for the new robot, according to the company, could include forest fire control and prevention, agricultural management, environmental conservation, snow and ice removal, and "entertainment and special effects." Above all, however, it sets various things on fire in real-world settings.
It's important to note that flamethrowers are legal in the US in 48 states and are not considered firearms by federal agencies. However, they can easily set things and people on fire, causing fires and wreaking havoc if not used safely. Therefore, the Thermonator may not be the best gift for Christmas.
The Thermonator robo-dog costs $9,420 and is already available on the company's official website in the US.
